2008 Meeting - Mobile, Alabama

The University of Southern Mississippi and its many partners in ornithology hosted the 2008 joint meeting of the Association of Field Ornithologists and The Wilson Ornithological Society from April 17 – 20 in Mobile, Alabama. Download the scientific program and presentation abstracts.

Highlights of the meeting included an engaging symposium presentation by Dr. Van Remsen of LSU on hummingbird evolution, and a number of impressive presentations and posters by students. AFO and WOS gave student travel awards to 39 students to help defray travel costs. At the Saturday banquet, numerous prizes were handed out in recognition of the best student presentations. In addition, AFO announced the recipients of the 2008 Bergstrom Awards and the Skutch Award at the banquet.
